Real Madrid worries continue as another key player Dani Carvajal sidelined with an ACL injury

Real Madrid star player Dani Carvajal tears his ACL vs Villarreal

Real Madrid was everyone’s favorite for both champions league and Laliga with their star signing Mbappe with Arda Guler and Endrick being the cherry on top. But when it came to their Backline, Los Blancos didn’t sign any players to add to their squad. They did allegedly went for French defender Leny Yoro but the didn’t get through. With the match schedule being more congested with the new champions league format, chances of injury went up considerably.

And in the last laliga match vs Villarreal another key player of the squad was out for the season with an ACL injury, this time it was Dani Carvajal who’s been a crucial part of Madrid’s squad for the last decade tearing his Ankle Crucial Ligament(ACL) after attempting a clearance in their match against the Yellow Submarine. The Spanish international played 41 matches in all competition last season and were has been a key component of their tactics especially in the right-hand side.  Now that the Right back is out injured for what it seems to be for the rest of the season, Real Madrid’s option for the backline gets even more slim considering Defender David Alaba was also spending time off the pitch also because of an torn ACL. The Spanish giants probably thinking about their decision of not signing any options for the defence this summer transfer window. People were suspecting this situation coming to reality after the 2024 summer transfer window and now it looks like they were right to do so.

Real Madrid are no strangers to this kind of situation considering they faced 3 ACL injuries last season alone and were able to get their business done but things are different this season with Tony Kroos Retired at the end of last season. The Madrid Veteran had been a orchestrator in controlling possession and now that he is retired Merengues are not looking like their calm confident older self and now that one of their veteran also out for at least the remainder of the season.

Madrid has been rumored with several options last summer window, Liverpool FC player Trent Alexander-Arnold was lined heavily to the Spanish side but that move looks unlikely after Ancelotti said this after the match

During this break we have time to talk about this time, taking into account that the market is closed and there are not many options.

That quote does not translate to a “we will sign a new right back in January” and, regardless of that Ancelotti will have to make use of his resources at hand.

As of now, Real Madrid seems to have 2 options for the replacement of Carvajal, One of them would be Lucas Vázquez who has played in the said position in the past and is always stepping up for the challenge. Although the Spanish international in the final phase of his career, he will be a trustworthy replacement for the role.

Another option would be Éder Militão, even though the Brazillian Defender has not played in the right back position in recent times, the Centre back is not foreign to the role as he played that role in his previous clubs FC Porto and São Paulo 44 times in his footballing career. If Militão did have to fill in the said position, Aurélien Tchouaméni would have to slot in to the Centre back position, or it would have to be the other way around.

Even after making all these makeshift changes to their positions, the Los Blancos could potentially be taken advantage of their lacking defensive line by stronger teams, especially an El Clásico on the horizon. The 14th time UCL champions would definitely have to count on their luck going forward. Any more of these kinds of injuries could pose a serious threat to their overall season.
