Charlize Theron is an assassin who is part of a group of immortal fighters in this action flick with a hint of the supernatural in The Old Guard. The five members of the team have been defending people for centuries, but now their abilities have become revealed.

This movie is not only highly appreciated by the immediate presentation of combat scenes but also by a rather non-trivial script and the endearing characters. For a more updated version of the action films you are used to, then The Old Guard should suffice.

3. 6 Underground

6 Underground is some of the same kind of entertainment directed by Michael Bay, the man behind the Transformers franchise, so what you get is big, over-the-top and very explosive.

The series is about six people who stage their own death in order to become a squad of vigilantes and fight the worst criminals. Ryan Reynolds as the head of the team is quite outstanding; elaborate action scenes are sure to keep the audience on the edge of their sea.

4. Triple Frontier

In Triple Frontier former Special Forces operatives are brought together again to perform one last mission in South America: robbery. The starring Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, and Charlie Hunnam do a great job in supporting the film that combines a complex plot with the elements of thriller.

When capturing money from a drug lord, the men consider personal ethics and unexpected events that question the male characters’ dedication to the goal. This movie has a very strong action theme intermixed with a strong plot and is, therefore, a standout on Netflix.

5. Project Power

Project Power brings a unique twist to the action genre with its premise: A magic capsule that allows the enhancement of a person’s abilities for some time. The movie features Jamie Foxx, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Dominique Fishback among others and brings a story of reflected New Orleans when this invincible drug first affects the city. Recently, Project Power has attracted a lot of attention due to its inventive idea, gorgeous graphics, and a great number of dynamic scenes.

6. Army of the Dead

Based on the creative story of Zack Snyder, Army of the Dead is a heist movie that takes place in Las Vegas surrounded by zombies, of course. Scott Ward is played by Dave Bautista, and he is hired to carry out a casino heist to rob a gaming hub to get a large amount of cash most likely from a cash point. The catch?

There are hordes of zombie enemies that the heroes have to fight their way through to get there. A great combination of horror and action has been incorporated within this movie the visual effects and the plot of the movie makes it interesting and attractive up to the last scene.

7. Ip Man

In particular, if one is a fan of martial arts films, Ip Man necessarily has to be watched. Specifically, this is a biographical movie about Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man who is an actor named Donnie Yen. The movie, filmed in the historical context of pre-Communist China more precisely 1930s Foshan, describes the life of “the master of the demonstrated fighters” and his fight against the aggressors.

Some of the best fight scenes are well coordinated and Yen’s stature makes or makes Ip Man a good action film. I recently watched a movie that was entertaining that was filled with messages of honor and never gave up.
