Bayern Munich Run Riot

The 2024/25 Champions League season kicked off explosively as it boomed with stunning goals and record-breaking performances. Among them was none from the very dominant offensive display of Bayern Munich and its historical 9-2 victory against GNK Dinamo Zagreb.

Early on, the Bavarians demonstrated their attacking power. Marquee summer signing Harry Kane struck from the spot to score his 50th goal for Bayern Munich. Goals rained in as Harry Kane carved out a surreal hat-trick, while Leroy Sané and Goretzka scored and Olise and Guerreiro also scored a goal apiece.

A great outing too belonged to young French winger Michael Olise, with his maiden appearance in the Champions League. The goal marked him out as the second Frenchman, and the first of this century, to have scored a brace on their Champions League debut at any expense after Thierry Henry did so in 1997.

In the final stages of the game, Bayern continued to extend their lead. Leroy Sané made good use of his substitute appearance to net his second goal of the match, while Leon Goretzka closed off the remaining minutes for a crushing victory. The score of 9-2 at the end defined Bayern’s whole control of the game and sent out the most powerful message to their fellows rivals in the Champions League.

AC Milan vs Liverpool in Champions League

AC Milan was unable to hold out Liverpool to a 1-3 score in the season’s opening match of the Champions League group stage campaign on September 17th, 2024, at the iconic stadium in Milan.

The first half of the game was highly energetic. AC Milan began the match on a bright note as well, attacking with plenty of positivity, creating multiple chances early on. Pulisic scored a bracing goal against Liverpool in the 3rd minute of the game!! Liverpool, however, did not let the early setback discourage them. They posited well with defense in place and started to gain more possession on the pitch. The Reds’ effort earned a tie back at the 23rd minute when Konate of Liverpool found the ball net by something. Virgil Van Dijk scored another important goal for Liverpool before ending the first-half with a good note for the Reds!

The second 45 minutes saw things much more tactical compared to a very free-flowing first half. Both teams were thinking defense and stability over flair in attacking, thus making chances very precious as both sides tried to break down well-organized defenses.

Even in the second half, when the team was not pushing much for goals, there were a few plays that genuinely impressed. Szoboszlai was a man on fire down the flanks as Liverpool kicked around so much that it put a heavy burden on the AC Milan defense through his speed and agility. Trent Arnold was quite solid and visible from the other half of the pitch though, playing to perfection through his strong tackles and interceptions.

Exactly 90 minutes later, it was 1-3, with AC Milan teams aaccepting their defeat at the hands of Liverpool.
