Though, the MCU is quite good at springing cameos and twists. The concepts of multiverses, time-travel and other realities shown in recent phases are endless opportunities. Is that the signal to look out for in the future and hope that Tony Stark will be suiting up again with an Iron Man armor? Or Steve Rogers take the shield back? There is no doubt that by now, Feige has spoken words that have helped the fans hope to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

How Could Their Return Fit into the MCU?
If both Downey Jr. and Evan were to be part of the sequels, it would not be in the same roles as in the previous film. Because the concept of the multiverse is now an integral part of the MCU it is possible for the characters to return more than once without overwriting their past stories.
It can happen in the replicated realities or in parallel timelines of the Universe’s existence.

Wong or Reed Richards could bring them as Variants from another Universe, which will give the fans the opportunity to see Stark or Rogers in a completely different manner.
They can also be managed through flashes or special guest appearances. Both characters had a profound impact on the MCU, and their presence could be felt in future projects through memories or holograms, much like Tony Stark’s appearance at the end of Spider-Man: gaming title Far From Home.
What the Actors Have Said
In terms of commitment to the character, both Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans have said it multiple times that they love the character but were always very specific that their arc was always going to end with Endgame. Both Downey Jr. , specifically, and other actors from the cast have been quite insistent about the fact that Tony Stark’s death was a good ending to his character arc, and the same goes for Evans and other members of the cast expressing their opinion about how concluding Captain America’s story was the right thing to do.
With that being said, in Hollywood, especially in the genre of superhero, the door is never entirely shut. Yes, I am sure the right story along with the demands from the fans can easily persuade these actors to come back to the show and perhaps, even for a cameo.

Yes, Marvel fans are demanding and seeing that Downey Jr and Evans are back in action has created a storm of theories and debates. Some want certain heroes to come back as some other character as it was teased, some believe their exits in Endgame deserved to be final. It is a fine line, and if Marvel does choose to bring them back then they will have to do it whilst respecting the characters, but at the same time moving the MCU forward.
