Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Soars into the Live-Action DCU – Cast, Plot, and Everything You Need to Know About the 2026 Release
Supergirl: Women of Tomorrow is back, and lets just say from 2D world to Live-action era. As you all know, after James Gunn and Peter Safran announced a DC Universe reboot, Supergirl is their 2nd most priority in phase rebooting. Obviously Superman is their no. 1 priority of the time, which is going to be released on 11, June 2025.
Let’s get into the whole world of Superheroes and explore more the star cast, release date and fans expectations.
Inspired by Tom King’s Comic Series
The movie is inspired from the Tom Kings’ and Bilquis Evely’s DC Comic “Supergirl: Women of Tomorrow”, which launched in 2021 and ends in 2023. If we talk about the star cast, two main characters have been revealed: Milly Alock from House of Dragons as Supergirl ( known as Kara Zor-El, cousin of Superman ), another Matthias Schoenaerts as the main antagonist, Krem of the Yellow Hills. It’s script is written by Ana Nogueira, whereas the production begins in early 2025 in the United Kingdom.
However, a mystery is not officially recognized by DC, who is going to portray Ruthye Marye Knoll: the girl you seek’s Supergirl help to take revenge on Krem for destroying her beautiful family. Craig Gillespie is going to direct this DC masterpiece, known for his Oscar- nominated movies based on true life comedies like, Lars and The Real Girl (2007), Fright Night (2011), I (2017), Tonya (2017), Dumb Money (2023), and Cruella (2023). What do you think, is this movie going to be a replica of a comic series or something else ?

One Hero, Two Brain Cells, and a Whole Lot of Trouble
Last year James Gunn released some statements about all projects coming under DC Universe Reboot. One of them is Supergirl: Women of Tomorrow. given mixed feelings about how this movie is going to turn around.
Kara Zor-El has seen some epic adventures over the years, but finds her life without meaning or purpose,” the solicitation for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #1 reads. “Here she is, a young woman who saw her planet destroyed and was sent to Earth to protect a baby cousin who ended up not needing her. What was it all for? Wherever she goes, people only see her through the lens of Superman’s fame. Just when Supergirl thinks she’s had enough, everything changes. An alien girl seeks her out for a vicious mission. Her world has been destroyed, and the bad guys responsible are still out there. She wants revenge, and if Supergirl doesn’t help her, she’ll do it herself, whatever the cost. Now a Kryptonian, a dog, and an angry, heartbroken child head out into space on a journey that will shake them to their very core.

Moreover, James Gunn and Peter Safran is going to turn the DC universe upside down with these kinds of much more hardcore stories, dealing with emotions and making movies a part of their DC Universe Extended: “Gods and Monsters.” Anyways, it’s going to be a true example of how to turn a comic classic into a blockbuster live-action.

Villain Spotlight: Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills
Till now, you get it who gonna be villain none other Matthias Schoenaerts. He is Belgian actor and producer as well as a graffiti artist. If we have a glance over his acting skills then Schoenaerts is known for being able to say a lot with his body language; needed to play a good role of villian.
Some of his best works are: Opposite Kate Winslet’s in The Regime, Lisa Vicari’s Django: The Western Series from Sky, Marion Cotillard Drama’s Rust and Bone, Jennifer Lawrence’s Red Sparrow and Charlie Theoran’s The Old Guard. Furthermore, the character of Krem is of a skilled and ruthless swordsman and archer who don’t have any positive emotions for anyone.
Did Matthias do justice with the character of Krem of The Yellow Hills? Only time will tell… But how much do we have to wait for its release, let me ease your curiosity. Release Date : June 26, 2026; year after relase of Superman.
