If you’re a fan of video games, you probably have one or more characters from a video game you absolutely adore. Video game characters tend to be cool and badass. And when you play these games, you naturally fall in love with some of the characters. Whether it is an RPG or a Shooter, we all have that one character and want to be like in some way or another.

So today we look at some of the best characters we have seen in some of our favorite video games. This list naturally can’t be featuring all of the popular Protagonists from video games so it may not include your favorite character from a game. Ghost: Call of Duty

If you ask Call of Duty fans, they would probably tell you that Ghost is their favorite character. Ghost is among the coolest characters introduced in video games. The character is first introduced to us in Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare as Simon “Ghost” Riley. The character then began to take shape as the Modern Warfare series picked up speed.

Nowadays, almost everyone who heard of Call of Duty probably knows Ghost. Even if someone’s not familiar with who the character is and how he ties up in the Call of Duty lore, they probably have seen the character. That’s how the character is known across different platforms. So when we are talking about badass video game characters, we have to surely weigh in Ghost.

Solid Snake: Metal Gear Series

Solid Snake may not be as popular as some of the other characters in this list, but it definitely one of the most iconic and badass characters in the world of video games. There are certain characters that define an entire video game franchise. And Solid Snake is an excellent example of a character like that. Metal Gear series has been a very beloved video game franchise among gamers, and Solid Snake is like the embodiment of the game franchise.

The cool eye patch-wearing spy character has been in the game for many years now and has been the face of the Metal Gear Solid series. It is even more impressive when you consider the fact that the Metal Gear series has featured some of the most memorable characters. So the place Solid Snake takes in this list, you can say that it is earned.

Hitman

One of the few characters that break through the video game world to influence other genres of entertainment. It is one of those simple characters at its core, but it has a lot of characters.

The nonchalant killer/ assassin has graced the hitman games with his simple yet deadly style. And that in itself is a major plus-point of the character. It is recognized in many places and even if you’re not really into video games, you probably have seen the character. The iconic black suit with the red tie is probably one of the coolest things you have seen in video games.

The game is so popular that movies are made purely on the character. Considering the games are not that story-driven for a character to explain himself too well. Hitman is and will surely be the known game for many children.

Kratos: God of War

The God of War gave us the iconic character, Kratos. So, the God of War has blessed us with some of the iconic scenes in video games. The core part of the gameplay features Kratos and for good reason. The journey that Kratos has been through serves as a factor in making this character who he is right now.

If you have played the God of War games, you are familiar with the lore of Kratos how he was punished at every step in his early life, and how he fought the gods and killed them. All of this changes however in God of War 2018 as in that game, a much older version of Kratos is shown. A version of Kratos that isn’t violent and avoids getting into fights. All of these changes play a huge role in the character development of Kratos. Fans love him even more after this as they feel more connected to the character.

Overall it is a badass character, one who can do anything he wants but chooses not to. And it feels really good to play as him. Maybe for these reasons, so many people love him so much.

Carl Johnson: GTA San Andreas

If there is a character that needs no introduction, it will be Carl Johnson, or simply CJ. Gamers love GTA San Andreas and they love CJ even more. CJ’s funny comments along with some of the iconic missions were a perfect combination to make this character memorable.

CJ starts out as a nobody coming to his home after his mother’s death. He then slowly builds up his home turf only to be betrayed by his own gang members. He then climbs back and this time even higher up building his empire in Las Venturas. He eventually comes back home to reunite with his brother and take down the people who betrayed him. The character’s journey throughout the game has been portrayed wonderfully.

The fact that he is one of the most beloved characters is evident by the amounts of games he’s been modded into. Even to this day, gamers don’t forget who CJ is and what he meant to us back when we played the game.

Video game characters are some of the most charismatic ones out there, and it’s natural to be influenced by them.
